Thomas Jefferson’s Notes on the Murder

- Coming to TLC this fall!
- A new historical drama by Owen Brown
- About the play
- While it may sound like a parlor game, Jefferson’s Notes on the Murder actually represents Thomas Jefferson’s account of the 1774 Yellow Creek Massacre as he penned it in his Appendix to the Notes on the State of Virginia. More than a mere recounting of an atrocity, Jefferson’s research uncovered the array of perspectives on the massacre and its fallout while proving that the wrong man had been accused. Owen Brown recounts the suspenseful details of the murder and explains how the historic event yielded a work of modern theater.
- About the playwright
- Owen Brown, artistic director of Bread and Wine Theatre Company, meticulously researched this oddity of American history, creating a stage drama which debuted at the St. Louis Fringe Festival.
- Meet Mr. Brown …
- Monday, October 5
- 5:00–6:30 p.m.
- The Learning Center at Skidaway Island
- 50 Diamond Causeway
